Monte Alban

Monte Alban is the ancient Zapotec capital outside of Oaxaca where ruins still stand. The ruins sit atop an artificially flattened hilltop over 1300 feet above the valley floor. Their layout is terribly symmetrical with lots of room to play their ancient form of soccer. We learned that the losing team was often executed, which I'm sure fueled fierce competition between teams.
