Palm springs is a small desert community just about 100 miles due east of Los Angeles.  As far as I know, it is known primarily for golfing and wind powered electric turbines.  I have several photos of the latter.

A Whole Bunch of Them Some Big Boys Two Blade Units Windmills in the Morning

If you get a chance, and you really are into this sort of thing, Palm Springs is a great place to see windmills in action.  There are thousands all within plain sight off the main freeway.  There are also plenty of them in Tehachapi.
