A View from Coronado The Hotel Del C. Drinks, Delivered Poolside
Just off the coast of the city proper, lies the "island" of Coronado.  This beachy community has a lot of charm and features the famous Hotel Del Coronado.  We spent some time there enjoying the weather.

One of San Diego's ritzier suburbs, LA Jolla, is a place of magic beauty.  Verdant parks, dramatic shores, festive nightlife, and cool architecture abound.  A visit to the Salk Institute in 2003 provided these photos of the Louis Kahn landmark:
